Best Robot Floor Cleaner
Robot mops work better than vacuum cleaners which require you to sweep the floor before they can perform their job. They are also better at cleaning near edges and thresholds.
Our top choice is the iRobot Combo j5+, which scored well in CR's tests for both vacuuming and mopping. It can navigate around obstacles within the home and clean hardwood floors as well as carpets with low pile.
iRobot Roomba Combo i5
This robot vacuum and mop is one of iRobot’s most versatile machines. It has a standard dustbin for dry waste, and an additional water tank for wet waste. The tank is easy-to-fill and will notify you when it is empty. You can also purchase an concentrate of cleaning solution that is factory compatible to use with this device.
It is capable of maneuvering floors and avoiding obstacles. It has an adjustable mop that prevents carpets from getting wet. The robot is also effective in removing pet hair off various floors. The Roomba Combo i5 is an excellent choice for people who need a powerful device that can do mopping and vacuuming without any additional equipment. It is best suited to homes without carpeting and the majority of hardwood floors. However, it's not a good choice for households with lots of stairs or rooms with many rugs. It's also costly, but it has the features and performance that justify the price.
It uses its own patent-pending Dirt Detect technology to pinpoint areas that have a lot of dirt buildup, and cleans them more thoroughly than any other 2-in-1. It comes with an advanced navigation system that allows it to move in neat rows to efficiently cover the walls of the room. The mop pads are washable and can be reused up to 30 times.
Create your own personal cleaning schedule using the iRobot Home App or your voice assistant1. Utilize the iRobot App to set the schedule and add rooms you'd like to avoid during future mopping sessions.
The iRobot Combo j5+ offers an affordable alternative to the i7 and J9 models. It comes with similar mopping tools, but with a patented dirt-detecting system as well as a powerful vacuuming. The iRobot j5+ also does well in our mopping and vacuum stress tests, but it's not as effective as the Ecovacs Deebot X2 Omni in these tests, making the Combo J5+ a less versatile choice.

Narwal Freo X Ultra
The Freo X Ultra, a highly rated and extremely functional Gen 4 robotic vacuum and mop is a well-built machine. The price of $1,400 is hard to swallow however, you will find it on sale frequently enough to make the purchase appealing. The unit looks fantastic and the base station takes up just a small space in the corner of a room.
The design of this robot is able to address a few problems that we've had with other robotic vacuum and mop models, for example, the brushes becoming entangled in hair, or the brush not being able to reach bare floors underneath furniture. The performance of the sweeper on carpets and floors that are not covered is also impressive. The vacuum/mop system is equipped with an excellent amount of debris removal, and the mop can absorb the bare floor quickly.

The mops use a smart system that cleans the edges of walls and around furniture. The robot avoids most bulkier obstacles such as food bowls, toys, backpacks, and shoes without any problem. It could get caught or stuck with smaller, flatter objects like shoelaces, USB cable, and pens.
We used this robot to vacuum and mop a mixture of pile carpet tiles, FLOR carpet and hardwood floors in a large, open floor plan. It was able to vacuum and mop the 90 square meters in 170 minutes with FREO Mind enabled. This is a bit more than the average for Gen 4 robots.
Several features distinguish this robot from other robots in its class. The Freo X Ultra has a number of software, sensors and hardware enhancements designed to keep it at the top of its class. It claims 3.5 hours of autonomy for environments of up to 260 square meters.
You can alter a variety of features of the Freo app, such as the frequency at which the robot comes back to the base station the frequency of mopping, as well as power (silent or smart), and its mopping humidity. The app can detect heavily stained areas and design an effective cleaning route. It can also dispensate detergent and raise the carpet pads.
Other impressive features include a quick charging battery, a clear display on the robot's bottom and a handy dock door that can be opened easily. The Freo X Ultra is the most efficient vacuum and mop for home or apartment owners who want to cut down on their chores while still keeping their home clean and tidy.
Miele Scout RX3
Miele has a track record of quality and innovation in the world of robot vacuuming. The new Miele robot is designed to take the cleaning performance to a new level, thanks to its innovative features.
budget robot vacuum RX3 features a dual-suction technology smart mapping system that includes 3D mapping, and camera that transmits an image in real-time to your smartphone. The RX3's four-stage system provides excellent dust collection on hard floors and carpets. Swing-out side brushes, dual suction channels and easy-to-use controls keep corners clean. The 8.5 cm height means it can get under low furniture, while front cameras and infrared sensors help it navigate obstacles and thresholds easily.
The Scout RX3 impressed us in our tests on how well it was able to clean baking powder from baseboards and corners. Its suction power of 2,500Pa was a little weaker than some other robots, but it was able to move quickly and was extremely quiet. It didn't mop and its cleaning pad that was removable was a challenge to attach. It also was unable to take on dirt that had dried up.
Its app lacks advanced features such as multiple cleaning modes or automated scheduling. It works with Alexa but its voice controls aren't clear or responsive. And it's also a little unreliable when it comes returning to the charging station after a run -- other robots can trace a previous path or follow a wall around until they get to their home however the RX3 is a fumbler until it finally gives up and sends a message of failure to your phone.
Another issue we had was with its intelligent features, particularly the mapping function and the digital keep-out zones. While it did a decent job of keeping away from our shoes and furniture legs however, it was easily stuck by socks and cables, and it was not able to manage the tassels of rugs. That's why we chose not to include it in our Best Buy list. The Scout RX3 offers a good price and a dazzling performance. It's worth considering as an alternative to the traditional uprights.
